OVERVIEW: Human immunodeficiency virus infection and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) is a spectrum of conditions caused by infection with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), a retrovirus. Following initial infection, an individual may not notice any symptoms or may experience a brief period of influenza-like illness.

CAUSES:

• Unprotected intercourse with an infected person
• Sharing needles
• Blood transfusions
• Infected mother to child during pregnancy, or breastfeeding.

• Use of contaminated surgical instruments

SYMPTOMS:

• Tiredness
• Headache
• Weight loss
• Frequent fever and sweats
• Lymph node enlargement
• Rash
• Dry cough or shortness of breath
• Diarrhea lasting for more than a week
• Fever

TREATMENT: There is currently no cure, nor an effective HIV vaccine. Treatment consists of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), which slows the progression of the disease. Here we provide some products without any side effects helpful for all initial symptoms.
